Founded in 2018 by Bertus and Lizette Beukes, the centre emerged from their shared passion for bird of prey conservation.

Nestled at the base of the Outeniqua Mountains within the botanical gardens of George, it offers both a tranquil setting for healing and an engaging space for education.

The facility is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of injured or displaced birds of prey, many of whom require extended care not typically available in standard veterinary clinics. While the ultimate goal is to release these birds back into the wild, those that cannot be returned due to permanent injury or trauma are given a lifelong home at the sanctuary. These resident birds also play an important role in educational outreach, participating in centre tours and school visits that foster environmental awareness and compassion for wildlife.

Public support is vital to sustaining their work, and donations can be made through PayFast or direct bank transfer. The team actively encourages community involvement, particularly among youth, to help cultivate the next generation of conservation advocates.

Visitors of all ages are welcome to explore the centre and engage with its mission, although some programs may be tailored to specific age groups. There is an entry fee payable for adults and children, which the organisation uses to fund its facility and activities. The centre’s offerings include guided tours, educational talks, and demonstrations, all designed to deepen public understanding of raptors and the challenges they face in the wild.
